Palladium Price Today
Palladium is a platinum group metal used mainly in catalytic converters for petrol cars. Below is the palladium price per gram, per troy ounce and per kilogram today, with a daily price chart, recent price history and prices in major currencies. Prices update every hour.
Palladium Price per Gram, Ounce and Kilogram
Metal reference prices are not catalytic converter purchase offers. The value of a converter depends on the amount of each metal it contains, which is confirmed by sampling and analysis.

Market drivers
What Moves the Palladium Price
The main factors behind changes in the palladium price, and why the market reacts to them.
01
Car production
Most palladium is used in catalytic converters for petrol and hybrid cars, so vehicle production and emission rules have a strong effect on demand.
02
Concentrated supply
Russia and South Africa are the largest producers. Much palladium is mined together with nickel or platinum, so output also depends on those operations.
03
Recycling
Recycling of used catalytic converters is an important source of supply.
04
Substitution
When palladium is much more expensive than platinum, carmakers can shift part of their catalyst loadings to platinum, and the other way round, which links the two prices over time.

Palladium in Catalytic Converters
Palladium is the main catalyst metal in many petrol-engine converters, where it oxidises carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons, usually together with rhodium, which reduces nitrogen oxides.
Palladium loadings vary widely between vehicle models and emission standards, so the palladium price alone does not tell what a specific converter is worth.

Methodology
How These Prices Are Calculated
Source
Prices come from an independent third-party market data provider. All values are calculated from US dollar prices and exchange rates published in the same update.
Updates
We check for new prices every hour. “Updated” shows the time of our last successful update in UTC. If updates fail for more than three hours, prices are marked as delayed.
Change
The change compares the latest price with the previous daily value (previous close) in the selected currency, using the exchange rate of each day.
Units
One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams and one kilogram equals 1,000 grams. Precious metals are quoted in troy ounces, which are heavier than ordinary ounces (28.35 grams).
History
Charts and tables use one value per day. Days without data are left blank and are never estimated.
Indicative prices
Prices are for information only. Dealer, refiner and recycler prices include premiums, fees and processing terms, so they will differ.

Used catalytic converters are collected in lots before sampling and analysis.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is palladium per gram today?
The current palladium price per gram is shown at the top of this page and in the price table. Use the unit switch to change between troy ounce, gram and kilogram, and the currency selector to see the price in euros, pounds or UAE dirhams.
Platinum vs palladium: why do their prices differ?
They are separate markets. Palladium demand depends mostly on catalysts for petrol cars, while platinum has a broader mix of automotive, jewellery, industrial and investment demand, so their prices often move in different directions.
What is palladium used for?
Most palladium is used in catalytic converters for petrol and hybrid cars. Smaller amounts go into electronics, dentistry, chemical catalysts and jewellery.
Why can the palladium price change quickly?
The market is relatively small and depends on one main use and a few producing countries, so changes in car production, supply disruptions or catalyst substitution can move the price quickly.
Does the palladium price show what a catalytic converter is worth?
No. A converter's value depends on how much platinum, palladium and rhodium it actually contains, measured by sampling and analysis, and on processing and refining terms. Contact us for an individual assessment.
