Live PGM Prices Today

Track platinum group metal (PGM) prices – platinum, palladium and rhodium – per troy ounce, gram and kilogram in US dollars, euros, British pounds and UAE dirhams. Prices update every hour, with daily history and charts for each metal.

Metal reference prices are not catalytic converter purchase offers. The value of a converter depends on the amount of each metal it contains, which is confirmed by sampling and analysis.

Why PGM Prices Matter for Catalytic Converters

Assorted used catalytic converters on workshop floor

Used catalytic converters are one of the main secondary sources of platinum, palladium and rhodium.

Platinum, palladium and rhodium are the catalytic metals in automotive catalytic converters. They are recovered when used converters are recycled and refined.

Market prices reflect the general market and are one of the inputs used when the metals in a catalytic converter are valued. The amount of each metal varies widely between converter types, so the value of a specific lot is determined from its measured metal content, not from the market price alone.

Methodology

How Prices Are Sourced and Updated

Source

Prices come from an independent third-party market data provider. All values are calculated from US dollar prices and exchange rates published in the same update.

Updates

We check for new prices every hour. “Updated” shows the time of our last successful update in UTC. If updates fail for more than three hours, prices are marked as delayed.

Change

The change compares the latest price with the previous daily value (previous close) in the selected currency, using the exchange rate of each day.

Units

One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams and one kilogram equals 1,000 grams. Precious metals are quoted in troy ounces, which are heavier than ordinary ounces (28.35 grams).

History

Charts and tables use one value per day. Days without data are left blank and are never estimated.

Indicative prices

Prices are for information only. Dealer, refiner and recycler prices include premiums, fees and processing terms, so they will differ.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are platinum group metals (PGMs)?

Platinum group metals (PGMs) are six metals: platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium. This page tracks the three used in automotive catalytic converters – platinum, palladium and rhodium – and shows their market reference prices.

How often are the prices updated?

Every hour. The time of the last successful update is shown next to the prices in UTC. The rhodium reference price often changes less frequently than platinum and palladium, so it can stay the same for several days.

How many grams are in a troy ounce?

One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams. It is the standard unit for precious metal prices and is about 10% heavier than an ordinary ounce of 28.35 grams. Use the unit switch to see PGM prices per gram or per kilogram.

Is this the price Recohub pays for catalytic converters?

No. These are metal market reference prices. An offer for catalytic converters depends on how much platinum, palladium and rhodium the material actually contains, measured by sampling and analysis, and on the processing and refining terms. Contact us for an individual assessment.

Which currencies can I see?

Use the currency selector to switch between US dollars, euros, British pounds and UAE dirhams. The table of prices in major currencies also lists Indian rupees and Saudi riyals.

Why does the percentage change differ between currencies?

The change is calculated in the selected currency. When exchange rates move, the same US dollar price change becomes a different percentage in euros, pounds or dirhams.
